is an eclectic group of veteran musicians who serve up a spicy mix of Zydeco, New Orleans R&B, Latin, Reggae, and Roots Rock--music that makes people of all ages want to get up and dance!
The group began as a more traditional zydeco project but soon found that they wanted to experiment with their diverse range of influences, while still keeping the music fun and danceable.
New Orleans has been called the northern port of the Caribbean. With that idea as their starting point, the band ventured south of Louisiana and started playing cumbias, conjunto, and forro. They also continued to dig deeply into the American roots sounds that have been a big part of their musical backgrounds.
The core of the band consists of Wendy Kinal (vocals, percussion, accordion), Ken Hiatt (accordion, keyboards, backing vocals), Dave Langhoff (drums), and Glen Reilly (slide and acoustic guitars).
Between the four of them, these musicians have decades of experience in rock, jazz, blues, classical, klezmer, Balkan, and Latin music. They have played some of the most prestigious venues and festivals in
the Northeast.
Gumbo Diablo combines an eclectic mix of influences into an upbeat musical celebration. Laissez les bon temps rouler - Dejar que los buenos tiempos - Let the good times roll!
